The most memorable moments of motorsport history
“Classic Races” takes all viewers on an exciting voyage through time to the most famous race tracks in the world. The show looks back at the most legendary races of the last decades and you can even hear the original comments.
“Classic Races” presents the highlights of motorsport history: tumultuous dirt-track rallies, the last turns towards the summit of Pike´s Peak, the Argentine Road Grand Prix and many more. Classic Races turns back the clock and viewers are fascinated by the gripping race action and the epic road battles of those days.
In 1987 when Walter Roehrl went on a PR-trip for Audi to the USA, he didn´t even know the legendary Pike´s Peak track. By then Roehrl had already won the World Rally Championship twice und was simply looking forward to the most famous hill climb in the world, starting at an altitude of 9000 feet and finishing at 14.000 feet. The road surface was gravel and Audi wanted to establish a new record. They even go further back in time, e.g. into the 60ies when Mercedes Benz dominated the Argentine Road Grand Prix and Alfa, Lancia & Co. only saw their tail lights.
Finally “Classic Races” shows the beginnings of motor racing: the first races with the “Race Car of Auto Union”, the “Silver Arrows” of that time, in the first half of the 30ies.
“Classic Races” shows a world of pure motorsports: unique, historic, man against man, extremely dangerous motorsport without any of the modern security standards.
