Action-packed weekend of racing lies ahead on Motorvision TV
The European Le Mans Series is back in action this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps as the 2019 championship only has two races left.
G-Drive Racing duo of Job van Uitert and Roman Rusinov lead the overall drivers’ standing by nine points in their Aurus 01 from the IDEC Sport trio in the #28 car. Having won half of all races completed thus far, they definitely are the championship favourites.
However Paul Lafargue, Memo Rojas and Paul-Loup Chatin aren’t going down without a fight. Having finished in second place twice before they finally broke the curse last race at Silverstone and won the race. Michelin Le Mans Cup also travels to Spa-Francorchamps for the penultimate round of the 2019 season with a wide open title fight.
François Kirmann and Laurents Hörr of DKR Engineering in the LMP3 category lead the drivers’ standing by 17 points in their Norma M30. With the pair finishing on the podium in every race bar one this season, it is no surprise for them to have a strong championship lead.
Chasing them down is the Lanan Racing’s duo of Duncan Tappy and Michael Benham, also in a Norma M30, but their title charge took a hit after a big incident in Barcelona forced them to withdraw from the event, losing them the championship lead.
Meanwhile in the GT3 class the drivers’ championship fight is at boiling point.Giacomo Piccini and Sergio Pianezzola in the Kessel Racing-run Ferrari 488 GT3 won the previous round in Barcelona and the momentum is definitely behind them. TCR Europe also head to their penultimate race weekend of the championship in Barcelona with Autodis Racing by Target Competition’s Hyundai i30 N TCR of Josh Files further extending his championship lead.
After scoring third-place finishes in both races last time out in Oschersleben, Files extended his lead in the standings to 78 points. With nearest rival Luca Engstler only scoring in one of the German races.With 170 potential points still up for grabs, the championship fight isn’t over just yet.Tune in on Motorvision TV this Saturday at from 18:20 CET and Sunday from 16:55 CET to catch all the TCR Europe action.
Last up for the weekend is Blancpain GT World Challenge America, which heads to Road America for its penultimate round of the championship.
With back-to-back victories at Watkins Glen, Toni Vilander leads the overall drivers’ standing by 28 points in his Ferrari 488 GT3 run by R. Ferri Motorsport. Only four races separates him from the championship.Although Vilander is in full control of the drivers’ championship, R. Ferri Motorsport are behind in the teams’ championship by two points from K-PAX Racing running the Bentley Continental GT3.Who will be victorious at Road America?
